According to the Minister of Administrative Reform Kyriakos Mitsotakis, a total of 12,799 employees from the public sector have been dismissed since the 23rd of July 2013. Mr. Mitsotakis made the announcement in Parliament, after being asked by New Democracy MP Lefteris Avgenakis.
The Minister explained that these 12,799 employees derived from local government bodies, such as the Municipal Police and school wardens, and the Ministries of Agricultural Development, Growth, Administrative Reform, National Defense, Labor, Shipping, Finances, Education, Environment, Culture, Tourism, Health and Infrastructure.
