About 730,000 uninsured vehicles circulate on Greek roads and pose a threat to law-abiding drivers, according to data presented by the president of the Greek Insurance Company U, D. Zorbas.

The number of uninsured vehicles currently circulating in Greece was estimated by cross-referencing information from the insurance company vehicle registration database, the road tax database of the Ministry of Finances’ Information Center (KEPYO) and data from the Ministry of Transport.

Mr. Zorbas stated that the KEPYO is currently preparing to mail out warnings to the uninsured drivers. Additionally, he urged drivers to insure their vehicles and noted that fees were slashed by 15% last year and are expected to drop by a further 8% in 2014.
