Ilias Bazinas, one of the country’s most important sportswriters, passed away last night at the age of 73, after a long-term battle with cancer. His funeral will take place at 3pm on Monday, at the First Cemetery of Athens.
Bazinas was revered by his colleagues as a “real teacher” of journalism, having established himself through the pages of the now-defunct Filathlos sports daily. In more recent times Bazinas wrote for Live Sport.
