The leader of the opposition Alexis Tsipras will be heading to Frankfurt on Tuesday afternoon, where he is scheduled to meet with the head of the European Central Bank Mario Draghi.

Mr. Tsipras requested the meeting in light of the recent European elections and ahead of the official commencement of negotiations for settling the Greek and European debt.

The SYRIZA president is likely to argue for a haircut of the debt, even though the prevailing perception within his party is that the ECB plays an important role in establishing austerity policies and adopting measures to support liquidity and growth.
