It took a lot of effort for the government to finally find a solution for the specific commitments we have assumed in relation to the refugee crisis. We needed the threats regarding the Schengen area, the publication of unfavorable reports about our country, so that the state mechanism would finally activate and push forward with the works for the infamous hot spots.
This story has been dragging on for months because virtually nobody assumed their responsibilities and gave an alibi to all those in Europe who are refusing to assume their share of the burden. A Ministry of Migration Policy was set up and the minister was left with a handful of employees to find solutions for a problem that overwhelms the state and public administration.
The same is more or less going on with all unresolved issues. We postponed he review that was meant to take place in October, the months went by and we are still hearing about how the troika review must quickly conclude, otherwise the country will not last… The government is constantly trailing behind, because rather than assume its responsibilities, it is trying by all means to pass them to others or postpone them, out of fear for the political cost.
Even when they eventually reach a decision, the so-called ministers in charge begin the opposition. The port of Piraeus is a characteristic example, where after it was officially sold to Cosco, the Minister of Shipping Theodoros Dritsas commented on Avgi that “the government does not intend to sell of the port” in order to deceive. The other hopeful, Mr. Spirtzis is also doing something similar with the ticket hikes, where on the one hand he denies the hike and on the other he claims it only affects the rich…
It is obvious that this tactic of wait and look will not help the country. The problems accumulate, the uncertainty is prolonged and the economy continues to be on the brink. The responsibility lies entirely with the Prime Minister, who must decide if he can assume his responsibilities and commitments he has accepted. Every extension of this confusing situation will undoubtedly result in a new crisis that nobody can endure…
