A 40-year-old Greek Muslim of Turkish descent from Komotini, has been arrested in Turkey by the local authorities and will be deported to Greece. The 40-year-old man is reportedly being interrogated and detained in Alexandroupoli.

It appears that the 40-year-old man had entered the neighboring country in recent months and was headed for Syria. An investigation is under way to determine whether he had any contacts with the so-called “Islamic State” or other terrorist groups.

According to the latest reports, the 40-year-old man has had his Turkish residence permit revoked. Turkey issues residence permits to Greek citizens when they visit the country, upon request, provided they follow the Muslim faith.
