Greek statistics authority ELSTAT has published the results of a survey conducted by the Bank of Greece regarding non-resident arrivals from abroad and noted a 20.8% increase in the first half of 2015, compared to the first half of 2014.

Arrivals from Europe, which account for the majority of tourist arrivals (86.1%), registered a 21.8% increase in the January-to-June 2015 period, compared to the corresponding period of 2014 while arrivals from the EU increased by 32.4%.

A significant increase in absolute values was observed in arrivals from Bulgaria (149.5%), FYROM (37.8%), Germany (23.5%), the UK (18.0%), Italy (64.6%), Romania (62.3%), Poland (41.4%) and France (12.5%). Conversely, a decrease in absolute values was recorded in arrivals from Russia (-60.6%).

As for countries outside of Europe, the survey showed a significant increase (in absolute values) of arrivals from the USA (41.6%) and Turkey (21.0%).
