Thieves broke into the two-story home of the Mayor of Kifisia Mr. Giorgos Thomakos at about 3am on on Monday morning. The intruders entered from an unlocked balcony door.
After tying up the mayor and his wife, three three thieves searched the house for money and valuables, before taking off. Their nine-year-old son woke up and managed to untie his parents, before contacting the police.
The mayor and his wife are reported to be in good health, while the authorities have launched an investigation.
