The US President Barack Obama announced that he is waiting for Berlin to submit proposals on how Greece may return to growth, within the Eurozone, at the press conference he gave with German Chancellor Angela Merkel on Monday. The two leaders met primarily to discuss the crisis in Ukraine and global growth.
Mr. Obama called the European Union and International Monetary Fund to cooperate with the new government in Greece and associated the recovery of the Greek economy to European and global growth. The German Chancellor on her behalf stressed that she was waiting for the Greek government to submit a sustainable plan at the upcoming Eurogroup on Wednesday, to begin discussions.
Meanwhile, she praised Ireland, Portugal and Spain for carrying out important reforms, as part of the support programs, arguing that since 2010, Germany’s goals has been to keep Greece in the Eurozone. Nevertheless, she noted that there were certain rules than must be observed in order to receive solidarity.
