The annual number of admissions at Universities is to be decided by a “troika” comprised of the universities, the Ministry of Education and the Authority for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ADIP).

The decision came after a proposal was made by the University Rector Synod at a meeting of the National Council of Education. Nevertheless, the Minister of Education Andreas Loverdos argued that due to elections later this month, the measure may be postponed for next year.

The National Council also ruled that this change in admissions does not necessitate any legislative initiatives, as the existing legal framework allows such changes.
