New cold front imminent, snowfall expected in Attica

The weather conditions in Greece are expected to take a turn for the worse over the next few days, with meteorologists noting that snowfall even in Attica being likely.

According to the meteorological service’s report, the weather will deteriorate on Monday evening in Attica, Viotia, the Sporades, the Kyklades, Evia and Crete. An escalation of the adverse weather conditions is expected on Tuesday, with a gradual improvement on Wednesday afternoon.

The northern and eastern suburbs of Athens may see some snowfall late on Monday evening, while temperatures in central and north Greece to reach -25 degrees in certain areas.

As a result of a serious deterioration of the weather conditions, the Armed Forces have been put on alert, while the General Secretariat of Civil Protection has called for citizens to take necessary measures, such as using snow chains when driving and being informed of developments.
