The Mayor of Athens Giorgos Kaminis met with representatives of the Syrian refugees who have camped outside Parliament, on Syntagma Square, for the past three weeks.
The meeting, which is scheduled for noon on Friday, aims to examine the possibilities in order to coordinate solidarity and charitable efforts, so that a resolution is possible.
On his behalf, Mayor Kaminis intends to pressure the government to expedite the legal procedures, so that the Syrian refugees may receive the necessary documents and receive the support they need.
The Municipality of Athens has also noted that it is in the position to offer shelter to 20 families of Syrian refugees in its home for the elderly and shelter for victims of domestic abuse.
