A suspected Ebola case has been reported in a ship just off the Peloponnesian coat. The “Magda P”, which sailed from Guinea to Ukraine carrying bauxite, has been diverted to the port of Piraeus and is expected to dock at around 17:30/
Healthcare services have been informed by the port authorities and are on stand-by alert. The ship, which sails under Greek flag, has a mixed crew of Filipinos and Greeks. During the voyage, one Filipino employee showed Ebola symptoms of a high fever and hemorrhaging.
A doctor is expected to be board the ship in the afternoon to determine whether the Filipino employee suffers from Ebola or something else. Meanwhile, it has been reported that his fever has subsided, which is considered a positive development.
