75 buildings in earthquake-stricken Aegio temporarily non-habitable

The 4.8 magnitude earthquake that occurred on Friday in Aegio damaged a number of buildings, with the teams of engineers and earthquake recovery services carrying out inspections. So far there have been 750 inspection requests, which are likely to increase.

The local mayor Thanasis Panagopoulos has reported that so far 75 buildings have been found to have suffered significant damages and have been deemed to be non-habitable, until restoration work is carried out.

Regarding the residents of the buildings that were deemed unsuitable for living, the mayor noted that the municipal services would find a solution to address their housing needs.

Meanwhile the municipal council unanimously decided to officially declare a state of emergency in order to address the needs of earthquake victims.
