The former chief of the Financial and Economic Crime Unit (SDOE) Yannis Diotis will face examiners to address felony charges in relation to handling the illustrious Lagarde List.

Mr. Diotis was originally scheduled to testify on Tuesday along with another former SDOE chief, Yannis Kapeleris, but was given an extension to prepare his statement due to his lawyer being unavailable.

When questioned on Tuesday, Mr. Kapeleris pointed the blame at the former Minister of Finances Giorgos Papakonstantinou, claiming that he was never given instructions to carry out tax investigation of the list. Mr. Kapeleris was set free, without any restrictions.

The Deputy Prosecutor of the Supreme Court has recommended that Mr. Papakonstantinou be referred to the Special Court, where he will face serious felonies regarding his handling of the Lagarde List.
