The nationwide tax office employee federation POE–DOY has commented on the appointment of a new General Secretary of Public Revenue and criticized the government’s financial policies.
In its statement, the federation accused the coalition government’ overall policies for setting “incomprehensible goals”, while reducing staff in critical services. The tax office employees underlined tat “tax evasion is out of control for the past eight months”, which it has attributed to the interventions in SDOE and the General Secretariat of Public Revenue.
The federation refers to the ousting of Mr. Theoharis from his post after implemented the coalition government’s “barbaric policy” and argued that the new General Secretary must be an expert on tax legislation and be aware of the tax collection mechanism’s operation
POE-DOY also disagreed with the practice of condemning the officers who are called to implement these controversial policies rather than the policies themselves.
