The opposition MP Alexis Mitropoulos criticized the government’s ambitious plans for employment and claimed that the programs essentially constitute “work servitude”.

Mr. Mitropoulos argued that “based on the implementation of the measure so far, those who find employment in the government’s five-month ‘social work’ programs, will receive a puny monthly wage with great delay and without any of the guarantees and benefits of an employment relationship”.

According to the SYRIZA member, the people must “condemn this institution of new work servitude” and fight against “the Minotaur of neoliberalism, the abolition of the state and destruction of social structures and its proud youth, which is the hope of a new financial recovery and productive reconstruction of the country”.
