Greek Prime Minister Antonis Samaras and German Chancellor Angela Merkel met at midday on Friday, ahead of Mr. Samaras’ scheduled speech at the annual event of the Süddeutsche Zeitung on Saturday.

The Prime Minister, who was accompanied by his Growth Minister Kostis Hatzidakis and his associate consultants Chrysanthos Lazaridis and Stavros Papastavrou, updated Mrs. Merkel on the progress of the bailout plan and reform changes.

After the meeting the German Chancellor revealed that she was impressed by the results in the economy, especially the achievement of a primary surplus. Mrs. Merkel pledged Germany’s support to Greece and was pleased of the hard work paying off.
