The strong winds, measuring 7 to 9 on the Beaufort wind scale in many areas, has resulted in all departures from the ports of Piraeus, Rafina and Lavrio being cancelled.
On Tuesday the national meteorological service EMY issued a warning for adverse weather conditions that are expected to carry on until Thursday evening.
Thunderstorms are expected in the Ionian Islands, Epirus and western sections of central Greece and Peloponnesus, with some snowfall in mountainous regions above 900 meters.
