With 100% of the votes counted, the extent of SYRIZA’s has become clear, with the leftist party receiving 35.46% of the vote, almost 7.5 points above New Democracy, which received 28.09% of the vote.

Counting has concluded in all 19,513 polling stations, while the rate of abstention was a record 43.43%.

Based on the official results eight parties will enter Parliament, with the Union of Centrists making its first appearance since its foundation in 1992 with 9 seats. The Popular Union on the other hand failed to make the 3% requirement to enter Parliament.

SYRIZA will have four seats less in the new Parliament, while New Democracy will have one less; Golden Dawn – firmly in third place – managed to secure one extra seat. The River suffered a significant loss and will have six fewer seats in the new Parliament, while the Independent Greeks will have three fewer. Only the Communist Party will have the same number of seats as it did in the previous Parliament.
