The trial for the Proton Bank scandal, where 700 million euros were given out in bad loans and which involves 43 defendants, has been adjourned until the 24th of April.

The legal defense team of Mr. Lavrentis Lavrentiadis – the main defendant in the case – favored the adjournment since many of the lawyers were unable to attend the trial due huge number of trials they were to attend.

The prosecutor proposed the ad hoc appointment of attorneys for cases where a defense lawyer is unable to attend, however this prompted a reaction from the defense, which argued that the rights of their clients were being infringed.

Ultimate, at the risk of a collective departure of the defense attorneys, the bench decided to postpone the trial until late April.
