A fire broke out in a basement at the USA’s embassy in Athens on Sunday evening, but was quickly extinguished before it could cause any major damage.
It has not yet been determined what caused the fire, which broke out in a basement where paper documents were kept. As soon as the fire was noticed, the Fire Brigade dispatched seven vehicles and twenty firefighters.
The fire, which caused a lot of smoke due to the paper documents that were burned, was set under control and extinguished after about an hour.
