According to the latest data collected by GSEE’s Institute of Labor and published in Ta Nea, about 1,000,000 people in Greece are in a state of undeclared employment.

These estimated 1,000,000 employees are typically paid lower wages without benefits, work full time shifts, but may be registered as part-time employees. The Labor Institute’s data shows that about one in five employees in Greece are not insured.

Additionally, about 300,000 employees are declared as being self-employed by their employers, in an effort to avoid paying insurance contributions and benefits.
