New Democracy MP Kyriakos Mitsotakis has hinted that he would run for party president, should the current leader, Antonis Samaras, decide to initiate such procedures.
Mr. Mitsotakis appeared on ANT1 on Monday morning and explained that only the party president could initiate such procedures, adding that “I am not calling him to do so, he has the first word”.
The former Minister further commented how New Democracy is a huge party and handed over the government in a better state that when it received it.
After defeat in the general elections in January, many New Democracy officers have been critical of the party president’s leadership. So far though, Mr. Samaras has not indicated any intention of stepping down.
