The water level on the Evros river seems to be dropping but the drainage of water from residential areas and flooded cultivated land is estimated to be lengthy due to the current weather conditions.
The weather in the past 24 hours seems to be helping in order to avoid a further increase in the water level, while all relevant bodies and local residents hope there will be no deterioration, with a temperature drop and snowfall, which will lead to the freezing of the large bodies of water.
Evros Deputy Prefect Governor Dimitris Petrovic speaking at the Athens News Agency explained that the possible interventions are very limited as the whole process requires patience and time.
