French sports newspaper L’ Equipe has included Angelos Charisteas and Thodoris Zagorakis in its 100 top football players in the history of the Euro. Specifically Angelos Charisteas ranked 19th while Thodoris Zagorakis came in 34th in the list. Both players were instrumental in Greece’s 2004 surprise win of the Euro.
The newspaper explains that the list was composed based on the personal performance of each player and contribution to their team, as well as team performance. Unsurprisingly Michel Platini came in first place, followed by Dutch striker Marco van Basten and Spain’s midfielder Xavi.
