Nightclub defies SDOE closure

Authorities are troubled by Summer Fix Live, a nightclub in Kallithea of Halkidiki, which defied SDOE’s order to shut down, after an investigation revealed scores of tax code violations.

The SDOE team visited the nightclub on Saturday and discovered that while there were about 500 patrons attending a concert, not a single receipt had been issued. The club owners however announced on their facebook page that they would carry on regardless of the ban.

According to a report by “Ta Nea”, the police visited the nightclub and arrested the supervisor for breaking the ban, but did not order the closure of the club, as stipulated in the law.

The nightclub carried on operating until 3am, when the police revisited the club and arrested the owner’s daughter. Again, the police failed to shut down the nightclub and during the investigation it was revealed that the club did not even have a license. The two will be taken to testify before the Polygyros Prosecutor.

SDOE secretary Stelios Stasinopoulos contacted the head of Kassandria Police Department, the Police Director and Prosecutor of Halkidiki for explanations. The nightclub was eventually shut down on Sunday and will reopen on Tuesday. According to the law, if the offense is repeated once the club can be shut for a month, while repeated offense could bring a year-long ban.
