Papakonstantinou refuses to testify in person

As expected, the former Minister of Finances Giorgos Papakonstantinou decided against testifying in person at the Parliamentary Committee investigating the “Lagarde list” scandal. Mr. Papakonstantinou sent a 9-page written testimony instead.

The Parliamentary Committee has requested a further extension, until the 4th of July, in order to complete all of its duties and submit its findings. The Parliamentary Assembly will then decide to approve the findings, followed by a Judicial Council which will decide whether Mr. Papakonstantinou will be indicted or not the Special Court.

Mr. Papakonstantinou’s lawyer Takis Vasilakopoulos has requested on behalf of his client an extension until August. The Parliamentary Committee rejected the demand, as they felt that ten days was enough to prepare for the testimony.
