The Police launched an investigation in Mainland Greece, after a pick-up truck was reported stolen near Philothei in Fokida. The Police suspects that the perpetrators are the Trikala prison escaped convicts.
The Police set up road blocks in the area to intercept the stolen vehicle. When the driver of the stolen vehicle noticed the road block, he turned around and headed towards Efpalio in Fokida. Aside from the driver, the police believe there were two more people in the pick-up.
The Trikala prison escapees recently ambushed two police patrols and fatally injured a 37-year-old Police Sergeant near Distomo.
