A survey carried out by e-voice for the Eleftheros Typos newspaper shows that Apostolos Tzitzikostas has gained a minor lead over Evangelos Meimarakis in the race for the New Democracy leadership.

Specifically, when asked about voter intentions, Mr. Tzitzikostas has the support of 27.1% of respondents, followed by Mr. Meimarakis with 23%, Kyriakos Mitsotakis with 20% and Adonis Georgiadis with 8.8%.

The situation is similar amongst respondents who have declared that they will vote in the upcoming New Democracy elections, with Mr. Tzitzikostas in the lead with 34% and Mr. Meimarakis trailing with 33.1%. Mr. Mitsotakis is in third place with 22.2% and Mr. Georgiadis the outsider with 9% of the vote.

When the question was posed to respondents who have voted for New Democracy at least once in the past, Mr. Tzitzikostas remains in the lead with 29.2%, followed by Mr. Meimarakis with 25.8%, Mr. Mitsotakis with 20.7% and Mr. Georgiadis with 8.4%. When the respondents asked who they believe can combat major interest and corruption Mr. Tzitzikostas comes first with 23.6%, followed by Mr. Meimarakis with 18.7%, Mr. Mitsotakis with 14.7% and Mr. Georgiadis with 7.2%.

Finally, the survey showed that 52.8% of respondents will not participate in the election process for a new president in the main opposition party, which is set to take place on the 20th of December.
