After her recent prison escape and recapture, Vicky Stamati decided to cooperate with the authorities and submitted a deposition naming two politicians who appear to be involved in the armaments scandal.

Both Mrs. Stamati and her husband – former Minister of National Defense Akis Tsohatzopoulos – are involved in the case, which is currently in the appeal stage. Mrs. Stamati was taken to the central police headquarters, where she testified for about hours before prosecutor Grigoris Peponis. The prosecutor informed Mrs. Stamati that he had no authority for any of her actions, but would refer her deposition to the relevant authorities.

The wife for the former Minister is said to have decided to cooperate with the authorities in order to take advantage of new legislation that may secure an earlier prison release. Until recently Mrs. Stamati had vehemently rejected all charges against her and her husband, claiming to be completely innocent and targeted due to her marriage.
