The Alternate Minister of Administrative Reform Giorgos Katrougalos is planning on discussing a new public sector evaluation plan with representatives of trade union ADEDY.

Mr. Katrougalos told the SKAI television network that the new evaluation system will not act punitively, but rather to improve the provided service. The Alt. Minister noted that the previous system of staff evaluations aimed to fire employees.

More importantly, Mr. Katrougalos announced that all dismissals that were carried out through the suspension program and which were found to be illegal and contrary to Constitutional provisions will be reversed. This means that about 3,500 employees – primarily cleaners, school wardens and technical education teachers – are to return.

Finally, the Alt. Minister announced that the government would design and implement a mobility program in order to cover staff shortages in the public sector where necessary.
