The leader of the main opposition party SYRIZA Alexis Tsipras appears to be prepared to meet with Prime Minister Antonis Samaras, but objects to the participation of PASOK leader Evangelos Venizelos in such a meeting.

SYRIZA officers have argued against a New Democracy-PASOK-SYRIZA summit and clarify that “there are no room for a consensus on matters related to the debt and exiting the crisis”.

Furthermore, the opposition party officers stress that Mr. Tsipras has already submitted his two conditions for a bare minimum consensus: general elections and coming to an agreement regarding the new President.

SYRIZA spokesman Panagiotis Skourletis also estimated that there was little room for a consensus since the coalition government leaders have rejected these conditions, adding that that the people are now faced with two opposing plans.

Mr. Skourletis further commented that something “positive” may occur if the coalition government genuinely wishes to meet, rather than seek out “accomplices”.
