The coalition government party PASOK has issued an angry statement, chastising the Minister of Culture Panos Panagiotopoulos for repeatedly refusing to meet with party representatives.

In the statement PASOK argues that it has repeatedly attempted to contact the Minister to discuss “important matter regarding Greek literature, such as the fate of EKEVI and preserving book prices, to no avail”.

The statement concludes with PASOK criticizing Mr. Panagiotopoulos for “being preoccupied with sending thank you notes to favorite Hollywood stars over so-called statements in favor of the return of the Parthenon marbles”.

In a recent press interview for his latest film Monument Men the American actor argued that Greece «has a very good case to make» about returning of the Parthenon marbles from the British Museum.
