The IMF’s spokesperson Gerry Rice confirmed a rumor that the monetary foundation’s general director Christine Lagarde met with the Minister of Finances Yannis Stournaras in Paris on Tuesday, the 3rd of June.
Mr. Rice avoided getting into great detail, but commented that the meeting was arranged in order to discuss the further implementation of the Greek program and common interest matters. The IMF’s troika representative for Greece, Poul Thomsen, was also present at the meeting.
Additionally, Mr. Rice explained that such “private” meetings are no unusual for Mrs. Lagarde, but refused to confirm whether the Greek debt was discussed during the meeting.
