The leader of the opposition Alexis Tsipras is scheduled o present SYRIZA’s MEP candidates at a special event on Tuesday afternoon. SYRIZA’s list of MEP candidates was finalized last weekend and was blemished by the withdrawals of Sabiha Suleiman and Theodoros Karypidis, as well as minor reactions to Odysseas Voudouris and Yannis Varoufakis.

The opposition party’s MEP candidates include senior party members such as Manolis Glezos, Dimitris Papadimoulis, Yannis Milios, Nikos Hountis, Sofia Sakorafa, Alekos Kalyvis and Despina Spanou as well as prominent non-party personalities such as Nikos Xydakis, Konstantina Kouneva, Giorgos Katrougalos, Konstantinos Chrysogonos, Stelios Rompolis, Dimitris Christopoulos and Nikitas Kanakis.

Hopes are running high at SYRIZA, with party members predicting a 3-to-4 point victory over New Democracy, despite the polls not being clear. Nevertheless, SYRIZA is expected to escalate its opposition to the coalition government, as the elections approach.
