The Prime Minister Antonis Samaras hosted the official dinner event for the 28 EU Ministers of Finances and other state officials at the Acropolis Museum on Tuesday evening. Mr. Samaras explained that although the country has suffered dearly in the past few years, the economy is starting to recover and that the European Union will come out of the crisis more united and stronger.

In his speech the Prime Minister made mane references to the roots of democracy in Ancient Greece and argued that for a democracy to prevail, it necessitates financial growth. Mr. Samaras remarked that history has shown that financial collapses are followed up by a collapse of democracy and society as a whole.

The PM stressed that Europe “is more united that ever, more stable than ever” and is gaining international trust and respect for the ideals it represents. Mr. Samaras commented that “Europe is an emergent world power” that is increasing its influence and voice. The Greek Premier opined that Greece has managed to overcome the problems of the crisis and overturn the institutional injustices and problems.
