The Ministry of Finances is preparing a draft bill that is rumored to bring significant changes to the taxi and commercial truck market, in accordance with the recent agreement with the troika.

According to information available to To Vima, amongst the bill’s articles there will be provisions to further deregulate the market by lifting limitations of commercial truck activities, such as allowing hotels to freely use rental vehicles with drivers (including motorcycles and quad bikes).

Other provisions to be included in the ambitious bill will relate to the lifting of specific limitations in the taxi sector, such as the current ban on 9-seater vehicles.

Most of these provisions appear to have been proposals from the Ministry of Tourism. As expected, the union representatives of professional drivers are concerned by these proposed changes.
