The executive committee of private sector general worker confederation GSEE voted and decided upon a 24-hour general, nationwide strike to take place on the 9th of April, in response to the troika’s latest demands regarding work relations. Additionally, a demonstration is scheduled to take place on Klafthmonos Square, at 11am on the day of the strike.

Only trade union PASKE disagreed with the decision, with GSEE’s general secretary Nikos Kioutsoukis noting that “the stance and attitude of the factions indicates the serious problems in the movement, while their general behavior reveals the very serious and real issues that employees are called upon to face”.

The general secretary called for the various factions to unite and set aside their ideological difference and remarked that “the union struggle must be everyone’s struggle and it must be victorious”.
