The fate of Maria, the young blond girl who found in a Roma gypsy camp near Farsala and was allegedly the victim of an illegal adoption, will be determined at the courts of Larissa as the custody battle resumes on Tuesday, the 18th of March.

The Bulgarian ambassador stationed in Athens attended the previous court session to confirm that the Bulgaria is willing to intervene so that Maria receives the necessary care from Bulgarian institutes. The Bulgarian side has also requested that the Children’s Smile charity in Greece not be given custody of Maria.

Additionally, the Bulgarian authorities has requested that custody be removed from the two Roma gypsies from Farsala and return the child to the child protection service of Gurkovo, where Maria’s biological mother and father were found to reside.
