A poll conducted by Public Issue for the Efimerida ton Syntakton newspaper reveals just how undecided Greek voters are ahead of the upcoming European elections, where New Democracy and SYRIZA are tied in the first place and the newly-formed River party is in third.

Perhaps the more revealing statistic though is that the undetermined vote garnered 41% of the vote, indicating the uncertainty amongst Greek voters. When asked who would win in upcoming elections, 52% of respondents replied SYRIZA, while 33% said New Democracy.

The recent poll also showed a significant drop in Golden Dawn’s popularity:

  • New Democracy: 15.5%
  • SYRIZA: 15.5%
  • The River: 7%
  • KKE: 5%
  • Golden Dawn: 4.5%
  • PASOK: 3.5%
  • ANEL: 2.5%
  • DIMAR: 1.5%
  • Other parties: 4%

Furthermore, 54% of respondents claimed they were interested in the European elections, while 46% was indifferent. This is a slight reversal of the situation on 2009, when 46% showed interest and 55% were indifferent to the elections.

Additionally, a 63% of respondents estimated that there would be an increase in abstinence from the vote, since elections will come a month after Easter.
