Thousands of suspended public sector employees have not yet been reappointed and are facing unemployment, as the end of their 8-month suspension period approaches.

To that end, many school warden, cleaning staff and teacher unions have arranged to demonstrate against the government measures: the school wardens have symbolically occupied the Mayor’s Office of Kallithea, while suspended cleaning staff from the Finance Ministry has occupied the tax office of Kallithea. Additionally, school teachers are demonstrating at the Sivitanidios Public School of Trades and Vocations.

In accordance with the government’s suspension plans, hundreds of public sector employees will be dismissed after the 22nd of March, when their suspension period ends.
