After massive farmer demonstrations took place in Athens, Thessaloniki and Crete, the farmers of Peloponnesus have decided to mobilize and have arranged a Panpeloponnesian rally at the Nestani tolls in Tripoli, on the Athens-Kalamata highway.
The farmers who have set up a road block at the Nikea junction about a month ago decided to leave and vowed to return to the streets on the 9th of March, when a rally scheduled by the nationwide farmer coordination committee takes place.
The president of SYRIZA Alexis Tsipras and the president of DIMAR Fotis Kouvelis met with representatives of the farmer coordination committee today. Mr. Kouvelis commented that the government must address the promises it made to the farmers that it broke.
