The Ministry of Finances announced that three active MPs, ANEL’s Vasilis Kapernaros, DIMAR’s Maria Repousi and New Democracy’s Vasilis Kikilias are being audited for overseas remittances.
The announcement was made in order to dispel rumors circulating which suggested that three high-ranking New Democracy MPs were involved in the potential scandal.
The Ministry further explains that the three MPs were amongst 24,710 cases that are being investigated for similar purposes. Also included in the list are the wives of PASOK MP Nikos Sifounakis and the aforementioned Kapernaros.
The General Secretary of Public Revenue also clarified that it cannot determine the origin funds, only whether funds can be justified by the taxpayer’s assets.
