The Ministry of Finances is taking a number of initiatives in order to improve the quality of its services and to alleviate the pressure and stress on tax offices, so that they can focus on tackling tax evasion.

One of the more important initiatives is the introduction of a debt ID, which was implemented last year in time for the tax returns and came into effect this year. Taxpayers will now be able to pay their taxes online or via banks and post offices. The Ministry aims to abolish payments in person at tax offices.

Furthermore, a number of administrative and legislative reforms are introduced so that taxpayers can complete a number of tax-related tasks online (such as submitting copies of a lease), rather than having to visit a tax office in person. The Citizen Support Centers (KEP) will provide the necessary help for taxpayers lacking internet access or skills.

Finally, the Ministry of Finances is taking steps towards simplifying the procedures for the payment of various fees of various ministry bodies, which in turn will help tax offices become more efficient.
