The recent developments in immigration are expected to be discussed at the upcoming session of the Parliamentary Committee on Production and Trade which will take place at 2pm on Wednesday the 29th of January.
The Minister of Shipping and the Aegean Miltiadis Varvitsiotis took the initiative, after discussing the matter with the President of parliament Evangelos Meimarakis and requesting that immigration be discussed.
On Saturday Mr. Varvitsiotis appeared at Friends of the Police group event, where he complained about the UNHCR, Amnesty International, EU Home Affairs Commission, as well as SYRIZA and PASOK criticizing his and the Coast Guard’s management of the tragic event at Farmakonisi.
Mr. Varvitsiotis also met with DIMAR MPs Maria Repousi and Yannis Panousis to update them on the tragedy at Farmakonisi and explained that the Coast Guard’s implication will be determined after the ongoing investigation has been completed.
