A 50-year-old teacher who was stationed in an elementary school in Arta will be prosecuted in court today, after the mother an 8-year-old student complained that the teacher urged other students to slap her son in school during class.

According to the complaint the mother filed with the police, the teacher immobilized the 8-year-old boy and instructed his classmates to slap him one by one, while two other students were told to stand guard at the door, so that the 8-year-old could not run away.

When the mother went to pick up her child from school in the afternoon, she found her son in a state of shock. The child described the attack to his mother and was rushed to the hospital in Arta. The hospital confirmed that the student had suffered serious injuries in the face.

According to the 8-year-old’s father, who spoke to SKAI on Wednesday morning, the teacher also urged the students to punch his son. The director of education in Arta Leonidas Goros reported that the allegations are very serious and that an investigation is currently under way.
