The police reported that a bank robbery took place on Friday morning at the Piraeos Bank branch which is housed in the G. Gennimatas General State Hospital in Athens on Mesogion Avenue.

According to the police report the robber entered the bank brandishing a pistol and threatened the bank clerk. The clerk gave him the money he had in the till, which was estimated to be about 5,000 euros.

The robber then proceeded to take off on a motorcycle.
