A barrage of arson attacks took place last night, with arsonists targeting bank ATMs in Athens and the Golden Dawn and PASOK offices in Rhodes.

At about 2.32am the ATM at the Postbank on Agias Glykerias Street in Galatsi was torched. The Fire Brigade was called out, however the fire had already gone out after causing some damage.

A second arson attack again a National Bank ATM on Kafantari Street in Neos Kosmos took place shortly afterwards, damaging the ATM’s screen and keyboard. The arsonists tried to set fire to an adjacent ATM, but failed to start a fire. Matches and briquette remains were found nearby.

The third arson attack in Athens last night occurred around the same time at the General Bank ATM on Metaxa Square in Papagou. In this case the fire damaged the ATM.

In Rhodes the arsonist targeted the apartment building where Golden Dawn’s offices are located, damaging the wooden mailboxes. A second arson attack against PASOK’s youth party offices took place shortly afterwards, burning furniture and documents.
