The Minister of Growth Kostis Hatzidakis presented the draft of the regulation related to the primary residence auctions. Protection is only available to residences with a maximum value of 200,000 euros, on condition that the annual family income is up to 35,000 euros. Furthermore, the total value of the borrower’s assets must not exceed 270,000.

Additionally, Mr. Hatzidakis detailed that for a household income of up to 15,000, the annual installment paid by the borrower must not exceed 1,500 euros (10%), while the monthly payments cannot exceed 125 euros. Likewise, the installment for a 5,000 euro income is 42 euros, for a 10,000 euro income it is 83 euros and for 20,000 euros of income the monthly installment is 208 euros.

According to Mr. Hatzidakis he was unable to come to an agreement with the troika representatives, but noted that there was no outright disagreement to the Growth Ministry’s proposal. The Minister specifically noted that “we negotiated with the troika, but were unable to come to a complete agreement”.

Mr. Hatzidakis denied having negotiated with the banks, but admitted to hearing out their opinions on the matter.
